Our editors specialize in middle grade, young adult, new adult, and some adult fiction - specifically sci-fi, fantasy, and magical realism. However, every Ink Drop editor has a wide array of experience editing many other genres. See below for other genres we accept and excel at improving.
Our editors also have a long resume of experience editing nonfiction, incuding genres such as educational texts, biographies, and autobiographies.
Don't see your genre listed here? Not sure which genre your manuscript falls in? No problem! Send us an email with your questions and a sample of your work (10 pages attached as a Microsoft Word document) and we'll let you know what genre we'd classify it as. Additionally, we'll let you know if we have an editor with a strong enough understanding of the genre to provide you with a truly great edit. If not, we're happy to redirect you to another editing company that can provide you with the best feedback for your specific work.
*Please note: Ink Drop does not accept technical manuals or erotic fiction.
Editing packages designed by authors for authors.
Your personal editor will proofread the entire manuscript, checking grammar, spelling, punctuation, repeat words, etc. Any technical area of the writing will be under review and adjusted with the use of Track Changes. However, issues such as flow, phrasing, consistency, and story structure are not included with this package. If you want more in-depth adjustments made to your manuscript, a copy edit as offered with The Yellow Drop might be what you’re looking for instead.
Your personal editor will make changes to sentence structure, flow, grammar, and any other detail within the manuscript as they see best to communicate your thoughts most effectively to your readers. These changes will be made on a line-by-line basis using the Track Changes function in MS Word, so when the manuscript is returned, you may choose to accept or reject your editor’s changes as you see fit. This is the most commonly requested type of edit.
Also known as a content edit, your personal editor will make recommendations regarding story structure, characters, world-building, etc. This is not an edit to find flaws in sentence phrasing or grammar. Think of The Green Drop as the “big picture” edit. It will include content commentary within the manuscript using the review functions in MS Word, as well as a 4-10 page report regarding thoughts and ideas from your editor on how to make your manuscript truly top-notch!
